A:
Hi The path was fairly solid and I would say would take no more than 30 minutes. It's a great view from the top and definitely worth the hike. Regards, Clare.

I am Kenneth from Singapore. I shall be spending a brief stopover on 2/1/2017 in Monterosso on 3/1/2017 (as I have business trip in Milan through the new year - and I only could afford a day train trip from Milan to Monterosso - my train departs Milan 0800am and arrives Monteross 11am) - so I probably could only spend 4-5 hours and have to catch the train at 5pm to return to Milan - hence, I would be most appreciative if you could advise me - how and where is the easiest start point to climb up the hill that lead to Statue of St Francis Assisi in the old town, and how much time (or how long the round trip up and down the hill on foot) roughly it takes from start to the point where the panoramic spot that offers breathtaking view of the old town and coastal areas. Thank you in advance for your valuable precious information

Hi there From the train station I turned left and walked right along the water. when you reach the end you will see a tunnel to the left and another path to the right. I think you need to walk up the steps and follow the path. When you get to the top you will see the statue and there are plenty of great places to take pictures. You will need about 1 hour in total to walk up and down the hill. There are plenty of lovely cafes and places to stop and browse in town. I would say three hours would be plenty. Plus, it should be quieter this time of year too. Check out the wikitravel Assisi page for the history. Enjoy your trip. Regards, Clare.
