The Chicago Bears interviewed Tennessee State coach Eddie George, the Heisman Trophy-winning former NFL running back, for their head coach vacancy.

The Bears are expected to interview former NFL running back and current Tennessee State University coach Eddie George in person on Sunday, ESPN reported.

Both the Bears and Eddie George gain from the interview they conducted with the Heisman winner and the search can now enter a new stage.

George, the former Titans star running back, will be the third candidate to interview in person as Chicago ramps up its search.

The Chicago Bears cast their hooks in many directions this month as they navigated the waters of their coaching search. The team announced interviews with 17 candidates over a period of 12 days — from Mike Vrabel to Eddie George.

The Bears pulled the trigger on the expected hire of Ben Johnson as Cowboys fans still wonder about what Deion Sanders might do.

For some of those teams, that will involve finding new head coaches and/or General Managers. Three teams fired their head coaches during the season and two more have been dispatched as of 9 a.m. ET on January 6.
