Sep 6, 2012 · My guess is you have the non "Y" fare for your specific ticket, and not being Gold put you in the non seat selection category for this particular reservation. I bet if your next reservation is at a "Y" fare you will be able to select any applicable main cabin seat. I am EXP and never have a problem selecting seat prior to a ticket being funded.

UA created this lower fare to match, theoretically, what those two airlines offer for those who really value the lowest base fare.
